Celebrate Earth Week at School with These Simple Activities!
Sample Activities:
Motorless Monday
Students write a note to parents to turn their engines off in the pick-up lane
Plan a walk, bike, or roll to school day
Make anti-idle posters and hang up in the pick-up lane
Tubular Tuesday
Assign a classroom light monitor to open Solatubes and turn light switches off
Students make light switch reminders and stick on all light switch plates (ex. Stop the Switch!)
Waste-free Wednesday
Bring reusable water bottles and waste free lunches. Hot lunch students SCRAP their lunch by properly composting and recycling their waste.
Students make morning announcements the day before to remind peers to bring waste-free lunches.

Have a conversation about Earth Day and why it's important
Litter-free Friday
Hold a litter-pick up event during recess, lunch, or as a class time activity.
Hand out reward tickets for every 10 pieces of trash picked up

Set up a table at lunch on Earth Day
Have the students explain what they did
Read an Earth Day Book
Read an Earth Day book in your child's classroom or ask the school librarian to read Earth Day books to all students that week.
Lead a discussion
Ask kids what they think they can do to live more sustainably
What does earth give us?
What do HUMANS do that threaten our earth? (simple mechanisms)
